Artist's Description

Saw this old concrete hulled boat on the hard at Ilwaco, Washington and loved the shape of the hull, kind of 'melony' and full. It was peeling blue and I changed it to this vibrant orange, expressing better the felt and imagined emotions of past and future times to me. I feel 'celebration', a paradox considering the boat's inert circumstance! What do you feel? Expectation of release and restoration?

When I had the pleasure of interviewing Jackson Ordean, he began by telling me he grew up barefoot and shirtless in a small art colony town on the beach..." pungent salt and seaweed smells up my nose and the natural 'music' in my ears of foamy water flowing over gravelly sand.
