you have some wonderful work in your portfolio, but I have been looking through the Trucks Old Abandoned and Rusty group, so was glad to find another painting in amongst all the photos. I have just joined the group and posted a watercolour. Regards Kerry

Jackson Ordean replied:

Thanks, Kerry~ditto the photos...the 'jazzed' up ones turn me off the most. A good photo doesn't need that, and it makes the naive think they are the same as painting....{;^)

Artist's Description

Back in the 70's, I had a red '50 Ford truck and lived on Aliso Circle in South Laguna in an old beach shack I grew up in. I had done a charcoal sketch of this scene at the time and translated it into this watercolor, experimenting with very vibrant color to maximize my strong emotions about the time and subject. My wife says she wants to live there. I'm still advertising for a time machine. {;^) This one sold at a regional art show in Ouray, CO - (of course, prints are available in many forms and sizes!) How does it make you feel? What thoughts and times of yours does it remind you of?

About Jackson Ordean

Jackson Ordean

When I had the pleasure of interviewing Jackson Ordean, he began by telling me he grew up barefoot and shirtless in a small art colony town on the beach..." pungent salt and seaweed smells up my nose and the natural 'music' in my ears of foamy water flowing over gravelly sand. It was all a crystal clear world without words. People spoke 'at' me in staccato sounds I didn't really understand, but I abstractly saw each facial expression and their moving mouths... I was in my own world of feelings and pictures...that was all I knew that was real and true at the time." He shared that at some point near the end of High School,"...my 'left' verbal brain finally turned on, and joined my 'right' visual brain... and it was as if someone had...
